National Youth Service and the North eastern Nigeria

The NYSC scheme was created in a bid to reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the country after the Nigerian Civil war. The unfortunate antecedents in our national history gave impetus to the establishment of the National Youth Service Corps by decree No.24 of 22nd May 1973 which stated that the NYSC is being established "with a view to the proper encouragement and development of common ties among the youths of Nigeria and the promotion of national unity".The National Youth Service corps was born out of a share desire of an egalitarian society, with the integration of people and diverse culture. But then my question is what will be the gain if after primary,secondary,tertiary levels(home or abroad) of education the Nigerian youth is sent out on a rather futile mission in order to fulfil a one year mandatory service . My questions should the scheme be discontinued in such areas and those graduates from this affected region what will be their plight?

Obasanjo's Plans for ING

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has set his mind on regime change “by fair or foul means” and is plotting to plunge Nigeria into crisis, presidential spokesman Reuben Abati has said. He was reacting to statements credited to Obasanjo on Saturday that President Goodluck Jonathan was plotting to win the 2015 general election by “hook or crook”. Obasanjo had endorsed Jonathan’s main challenger Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, but then seemed to backtrack on Thursday. There are insinuations that Obasanjo is not well disposed to Buhari either and would want an interim national government (ING) to be headed by him to midwife new elections in which neither Jonathan nor Buhari would be candidates.
