Explain Boko Haram attack on Borno, Adamawa after your claim of defeat – Fayose tells Lai

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the Sunday and Monday’s Boko Haram attacks in Borno and Adamawa States as disheartening and an indictment on the All Progressives Congress (APC) federal government, saying that the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed must explain to Nigerians how the same Boko Haram that he said had been “technically defeated” could carry out such daring and deadly attacks. A ministerial nominee, Adebayo Shittu, who was screened by the Senate on Tuesday declined to publicly comment on the extremist Boko Haram sect, saying he feared for his safety. Boko Haram is currently ravaging North-East Nigeria, killing, bombing innocent citizens. Mr. Shittu, responding to a question pertaining the activities of sect, said he could not publicly comment on the sect, expressing fear over his safety. “I cannot publicly comment on Boko Haram; I still have family to care of,” he said He noted that many northern leaders were “unfairly” criticised for not speaking out against the sect. Former Governor Suswam's Wife Escapes Mob Attack In Abuja.

Yemisi, wife of the immediate past governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam escaped being stoned to death on Sunday after she was attacked by some traders in Abuja. It was gathered that the enraged traders had taken to the streets to protest alleged extortion and continued denial of access to their shops at the Wuye Ultra Modern Market. The market was developed by All Purpose Shelter Development Company, a firm having links with Mrs. Suswam and in which she is said to be the major financier. The former Benue State First Lady was held hostage for some hours in the market by the traders who accused her of conniving with the authorities of the Federal Capital Development Authority not only in extorting money from them but also denying them access to the shops they have since paid for. Fomer Governor of Kebbi State Dankingari arrested by EFCC

Former Governor of Kebbi state Usman Dakingari has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations that he laundered N3.8 billion from the state. Mr. Dakingari was detained at the EFCC headquarters around 10 AM Nigerian time. He is currently undergoing interrogation at the hands of EFCC investigators.  Mr. Dakingari is an in-law to late Nigerian President Umaru Musa Yar’dua.  Recently, the EFCC arrested Mr. Dakingari’s wife, Zainab. She was accused of laundering N2billion for her husband.  Mr. Dakingari was elected governor of Kebbi state on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2007. Sahahrareporters extract.

Appeal Court adjourns Saraki’s suit indefinitely

Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal, yesterday, granted an indefinite adjournment in the suit filed by the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to stop the Federal Government from opening its case against him before the Code of Conduct Tribunal. Saraki is facing charges for alleged false declaration of assets. Though the appellate court initially slated yesterday to deliver judgment on whether or not Saraki should submit himself before the Justice Danladi Umar-led panel of CCT tomorrow, a senior registrar of the court, Mrs. Christine Aruna, informed all the parties that the judgment has been deferred indefinitely. Effort by newsmen to confirm why the Justice Moore Adumein panel decided to postpone the judgment met a brick wall, yesterday. The main entrance to the court was kept under lock and key as lawyers, Senators, journalists and supporters of the Senate President, who besieged the appellate court premises in their numbers, could not gain entrance into the court room. ...
