Fuel Scarcity: NNPC Engages DSS, EFCC To Curb Product Hoarding As the hardship posed by fuel scarcity bites harder across the country, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has engaged the Department of State Services (DSS) and Economic and the Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in a renewed effort to check hoarding and diversion of petroleum products by some unscrupulous marketers. The engagement of the security agencies, according to a statement yesterday by the corporations spokesman, Ohi Alegbe, is also meant to assist in the monitoring of the nationwide fuel truck-out to retail outlets. Goodbye Wi-Fi, Hello Li-Fi: New Wireless Technology Is 100 Times Faster

(Picture: Boston University) According to report culled from yahootech, New wireless technology has been tested that is 100 times stronger than Wi-Fi. It is called Li-Fi and it could revolutionize the way we interact online. The technology, which transmits information using visible light communication, is being tested in offices and other workplaces in Tallinn in Estonia. Also read: Microsoft reverses course, restores downloads of Windows 10 November Update Tests in the lab have revealed that Li-Fi can be up to 100 times quicker than Wi-Fi - it uses visible light and transmits messages through binary code. Because visible light cannot pass through walls, it is thought the system will be more secure. But there are no plans to replace the Wi-Fi we know and love and sometimes hate just yet - researchers want to combine the two technologies together. Husband storms church,demands money wife paid as tithe

An angry husband stormed a church service demanding his Sh200,000 loan that his wife gave as tithe for prayers against demons in a local church last Sunday. Mr. Geoffrey Odhiambo said his wife took the money, for which a bank used his car as collateral, and gave it to the church, without his consent.According to the  wife,she gave the money as “tithe for prayers as there were evil spirits and devils in her house”. An eyewitness, Lawrence Odengo said Mr. Geoffrey complained it was not the first time his wife had taken money to ‘Jesus Elevation Tabernacle’ located in the Kisumu CBD,Kenya. It took male ushers more than 10 minutes to eject Mr. Geoffrey from the midday service moments before the APs Quick Response Team arrived. He reported the matter at Kisumu Central police station. Members of the public, who had glimpse of the drama at the place of worship they termed a “Pastor Kanyari church”, demanded its closure.

Angry woman drags ex-lover to court to refusing to marry her

A jilted woman has dragged her former boyfriend to court for refusing to marry her after collecting her money. A 49-year-old woman, Christiana Ojukwu, has dragged her 42-year-old former boyfriend, Gerald Onuimo, to the Isolo Magistrates' Court sitting in Lagos State, for allegedly defrauding her of N450,000 and dumping her after he had promised to marry her, PM News reports. The jilted woman told the court that Onuimo had collected the money to set up a business when they were still dating, but refused to pay her back after he broke up with her. It was gathered that Onuimo met Ojukwu five years ago and he gave her false hope of marrying her, which prompted her to give him the money to invest in his business but when his business started doing well, he secretly went to his village and married a much younger woman without Ojukwu’s knowledge and later informed her that he had gotten married. LASU Governing Council Orders Re-Issuance Of ASUU Chairman’s Phd Certificate

The Lagos State University (LASU) Governing Council had directed the institution’s management to re-issue the withdrawn PhD Certificate of Dr Adekunle Idris, Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). LASU chapter. Mr Akin Lewis, LASU Registrar, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the processes for the re-issuance of the certificate were ongoing. According to Lewis, every directive given by the institution’s governing council must be adhered to as it is the policy maker. “The Governing Council had deliberated and taught it wise to re-issue the certificate, and as such gave a directive, so our responsibility is to implement the directive,” he said.
