23 Demi Lovato Quotes That Will Drag You Out of Your Darkest Moments

In today's world of manufactured pop stars and overt industry pressure to be "the next iconic musician",Demi Lovato has always stood out as a breath of fresh air. She has a unique sound; a commanding, out-of-this-world voice; and a sense of style that practically screams, "I could not care less what you think about me." Yes, she got her start on the Disney channel, as many of Hollywood's hottest stars have, but it wasn't too long before Demi's personal trials and tribulations set her apart from the teenybopper crowd. Her struggles with depression, eating disorders, and self-harm became widely known during the late 2000s, thanks to a much-publicized fight with a backup dancer and a rehab stay in November 2010. She was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder and moved into a sober-facility. Throughout her dark times, she has not only taken full responsibility for her actions and unsavory behavior but has also managed to stay positive and optimistic —...

Shehu Garba writes on Buhari and his alleged involvement in the Dasuki arms deal scandal

In a piece title “BuhariGate, as the limit of obstructionist politics’ Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Shehu Garba, distanced President Buhari from the ongoing Dasuki $2.1 billion arms deal scandal. Read the incisive piece below… As the war on corruption heightens, the political battle-line between the governing All Progressives Congress, APC and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has sharply been drawn. While leaders from both parties voice out their support for the clean-up of the country by ridding it of corruption, the National Working Committee of the PDP seems clearly to be working contrary to the anti-corruption rhetoric of their Board of Trustees. Their public communication organs have, in particular, become increasingly combative against the exercise. All that the President, leading the APC change orchestra is trying to do is to revamp a moribund nation with growth, jobs and recovered looted funds. Sadly, only a few, if any in Wa...

Refineries To Make Payments Into Federation Account From 2016

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has said that state-owned refineries would make direct payments into the Federation account from 2016. The refineries are subsidiaries of the NNPC, which is the body expected to make the payments. Dr. Ibe Kachikwu said the NNPC was adopting a plan that would give the refineries some sort of autonomy, without privatizing them. In a statement by Ohi Alegbe, the corporation’s spokesperson, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu was quoted as saying high level discussions were underway with local and international investors to bridge funding gap in the sector. Kachikwu said, “The new model is that refineries would now buy their own crude oil, refine it and make remittances to the federation account allocation committee. “They would operate a semi autonomy system that would enable them to run in a profitable manner.” The statement also expressed the federal government’s readiness to raise funds from international investors and the private sector in 201...

Stranded Santa Claus Saved By Firefighters After Car Blaze

A stranded Santa Claus whose car caught fire Christmas morning is sure to put one northern Urah fire department on his nice list next year. Steven Macey, a Santa-for-hire dressed in a red suit and beard, was on his way to deliver presents at a home when his car overheated and caught fire around 6:30 a.m. Friday, according to Lone Peak Fire Battalion Chief Joseph McRae. Macey, 66, was not injured. He has been portraying Santa for decades. After making appearances at Christmas Eve parties until 1 a.m., he headed to an early Christmas morning appointment at a home in Alpine, a city about 30 miles south of Salt Lake City. Macey said his older car began smoking after he climbed a snowy hill. He got out of the car and retrieved his St. Nick coat, belt and bells before moving away and calling 911. A passing driver stopped and let him wait in their vehicle until firefighters arrived. "They were stunned when I came walking down the road -- a Santa," Macey said. "They a...

Chinese Shoppers Go Crazy for Apples Kissed by Flight Attendants

Men in China are going crazy this shopping season as they rush for apples kissed by air hostesses in what some have described as bizarre. Perverted buyers are rushing apples kissed by supposedly beautiful air hostesses in China. The new trend has seen prices of apples skyrocket as men rush to get the apples advertised to have been kissed by beautiful air hostess. The ads for these apples show photographs of women dressed like stewardesses – thought to be trainees at Sichuan Southwest Vocational College of Civil Aviation – holding up the apples against their red lips. Some listings even have videos of the women actually kissing the apples. The marketing strategy is obviously targeted at men, with lines like “take home the kisses of an air hostess.” Some sellers claim their apples have been kissed by as many as 500 stewardesses. Others are offering custom orders, based on buyers’ preferences. The apples are priced between 9.9yuan and 129.9yan ($1.53 to $20) per f...
