Another FESTAC robbery

The Police high command weekend described as false report credited to it that their call on the Navy and Air Force personnel for assistance during last Tuesday’s bank robbery in Festac Town was ignored. This is just as it was disclosed that men of OP MESSA , a Military outfit were drafted to the scene of robbery that fateful day. Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Onikan, comprising Lagos and Ogun states commands, Bala Hassan, said he never apportioned blame to any security agency, when he visited the scene of robbery in the company of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, last Thursday. Describing the report as one without an iota of truth in a statement signed by the zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Adebowale Lawal, a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, he said; “It is a fact that the AIG visited the scene accompanied by some senior police officers, but he was the only person that granted interview and he did not at any...

Newly Commissioned DSS officers to tackle insurgency

DEPARTMENT of State Services (DSS) weekend, in Lagos, commissioned 385 cadet officers in a bid to combat the rising security challenges in the country. The 385 officers were the lucky ones that successfully went through 10 months of rigorous professional, academic and physical training and were certified fit to serve the nation in their capacity as members of DSS, out of the 459 cadet officers that started the training late last year. The officers were commissioned amidst promises by the DSS to collaborate more with other sister security agencies in its fight against insecurity and to ensure that recruitment into the Service was merit-based in keeping with its extant guidelines. Speaking at the passing out parade at the State Service Academy (SSA), Lagos State, the Director General, SS, Mr. Lawal Daura, said gone were the days when misfits or non-eligible candidates found their way into the Service. “The aim is to ensure that only the right calibers of people are recruited i...

Man Who Buried Girlfriend After She Died From A Failed Abortion Has Been Arrested

A 39-year-old man, Chamberlin Ojoko from Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA, Imo State, allegedly gave his pregnant girlfriend, Chinonye Ella, 25, a local abortion concoction The concoction caused fatal adverse reaction that resulted in her death on July 20, 2015. Like someone acting out a well-scripted plan, Ojoko was alleged to have calmly gone home to borrow a shovel from his brother, Pastor Sopuruchi and buried the corpse of the deceased girlfriend in a shallow grave, which he dug at the back of an uncompleted building owned by one Dr Maduakolam Ukaegbu, a kinsman. “On July 20, 2015, I took my. girlfriend to an uncompleted building around6:30pm. My girlfriend took the herbal medicine, but later she started writhing in pain. Then she died. I ran to my house and took a shovel; I carried her body to the side of the building. I dug the ground and buried her in a shallow grave.” Believing in his heart that he had covered his deed like Cain, who killed his brother Abel, Ojoko...

AATREN SAY'S YORUBA DEITIES AGAINST BUHARI AND AMBODE

Members of the Association of African Traditional Religion of Nigeria, AATREN, have noted that the gods require sacrifices if President Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State are to enjoy a peaceful tenure. They made this known after thronging the Divination Centre at Iroko-Awe, Eti -Osa local government council of Lagos State to offer special prayers for the nation and Lagos State in particular. The AATREN President, Chief Ifasegun Elegushi, who presided over the special prayer session, noted that it has been the usual practice of the association during its monthly meetings to ask the oracle (Ifa), what it has in stock for the rulers both at the local, state and federal levels. According to him, “after such consultations made through one of the deities, Odus, Ifa Oturugbon, it was revealed that sacrifices should be offered to the gods for a peaceful tenure of our President, Gen Muhammadu Buhari and the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode. “If...

Soldiers foil attempt to bomb Maiduguri barracks

A female suicide bomber who attempted to enter the headquarters of the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri was shot dead by soldiers before reaching her target on Sunday. Sources at the barracks told Daily Trust that the lone suicide bomber described as a tall girl in red hijab approached the gate around 6am, defying warnings by soldiers to stop and identify herself.  “I was on duty at the gate when I heard my colleague, a soldier, saying to her, ‘do not be stupid, stop there and tell me who you are.’ She told him, ‘You are stupid also. I will not stop.’ At that stage, I took cover in readiness for anything. I knew she must be on a rough mission but I was thinking they were many.  “That soldier warned her again that he would shoot if she refused to stop. The conversation was in Hausa. Meanwhile, she was still approaching us. Then she replied him; “shoot me, I know I will die just once.’ He fired at her once but he could not get her. Another soldier shot her o...

Former Minister Tried To Return N50bn Through Me — El-Rufai

Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, has told New York Times that associates of an ex-minister under former President Goodluck Jonathan had approached him to return the sum of $250 million to the Federal Government. The money is about N50bn using an average exchange rate of N200 to a dollar. The governor, who did not mention the names of the associates or the name of the ex-minister, said he was not in any position to handle such matters but would pass across the message to the appropriate authorities. In the report published on Friday, the governor said, “When you say you want to refund, it means you are admitting that you took what was not yours. ‘I said, ‘I am a governor, I am not involved in this. I will pass on your message.’’’ The former minister of the Federal Capital Territory had before the inauguration of the new administration said President Muhammadu Buhari’ s government would ask corrupt politicians to return every kobo stolen by them. El-Rufai had told m...

Nnamdi Kanu’s Arrest: Niger Delta Youth Boil For War; Accuse Buhari of Double Standard

What is the difference between Radio Kudirat and Radio Biafra and what is indivisible with a country like Nigeria with divisive laws?- The arrest of Nnamdi Kalu is cowardice and a deliberate distraction of the President Buhari administration to perpetuate himself as a life President and criminally coax the national Assembly to give him sweeping dictatorial powers, to wipe into line all dissenting voices to cover up for his inability to deliver on his electoral promises and deliberate attempt to promote Hausa/Fulani supremacy, but its a desperate, shameful and evil exercise in futility. I still support the ideals on which NADECO Radio Kudirat stood for and will still support it, like most Germans with conscience would do, if it resonates again. Is it not true that former Governor Fayemi and now a ministerial nominee of the same Hausa/Fulani’s President Mohamadu Buhari who arrested Nnamdi Kanu of Radio Biafra, found Fayemi worthy of a ministerial post, a man that was ...

Nigerians React To El-Rufai’s ‘Fall And Die’ Comment

Nigerians have taken to Twitter to vent their anger over the comment made by Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai about Kaduna indigenes, stating that whoever among them is unhappy with his appointments should ‘fall and die’. Speaking at the 4th Town Hall meeting in Kaduna Central, El-Rufai said he could not give appointments to persons who did not vote for him during the governorship election. He said,  ”If you are not happy with appointments made, you can go and climb Kufena Mountain and fall. It was what you voted that you got because we are aware that there are people who did not vote for us, in fact they worked against us. ”But now they claim to be APC members and loyal to the party. We know such people. And so there is no way they would expect anything from us. You didn’t vote us but you want appointments. What you will get is zero. It is politics and in whatever we do there is politics.” Here are some of the comments below:

Neighbors 2' Extra Fired After Posting Fake Weed Pic

Zac Efron  is sober ... and if you say otherwise, you could lose your job. An extra on “ Neighbors 2 ” learned that lesson the hard way this week, after he Instagrammed a pic from the set showing a baggie filled with fake weed, with the caption, "Thanks for the weed Zac Efron!  By the way it's only a prop, people." Apparently the disclaimer wasn't enough.  The extra was fired almost immediately. Our source says it wasn't the first time the extra had gotten in trouble for inappropriate posts.  We're told Zac was not involved in the decision to fire the guy. Efron went to re hab   in 2013, so it's a sensitive subject.
