Buhari urged to make his health status public, and douse tension, NMA, others demand

Amidst growing concerns on the health status of President Muhammadu Buhari, the President’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, on Thursday, disclosed that the President would go on another medical vacation. She however said the ailing Nigerian leader would not do so by being hounded by anyone. Onochie disclosed this on her Twitter handle, @Laurestar, while reacting to statements by individuals and groups on the matter. She said Buhari, who returned to the country on March 10 after a 49-day medical sojourn in the United Kingdom, would embark on the medical vacation only on his doctor’s appointment. “President Buhari will go on medical leave but only on his doctor’s appointment. Not by being hounded,” she stated. On the reports that Buhari has not been discharging his constitutional duties as the country’s President allegedly because of his ill-health, Onochie said governance was not a one-man show. Describing governance as teamwork, she stated that the Pr...

Customs vehicle set ablaze over import duty by car dealers in Kaduna

But for the timely intervention of the Kaduna State security outfit, code-named ‘Operation Yaki’, the state capital would have been thrown into another crisis as car dealers and Customs officials clashed on Thursday. In the melee, the car dealers set ablaze a Customs’ patrol vehicle. The incident, which took place along the Rabah Road, in Kaduna North Local Government, occurred at about 3pm when Customs officials had gone on patrol to impound vehicles without import duties from car dealers in the city. At about 4pm, the men of the Kaduna State Fire Service were still battling to put out the fire on the patrol vehicle. Motorists and other road users as well as passersby scamper for safety while security operatives from the ‘Operation Yaki’ outfit cordon off the area. An eyewitness told our correspondent that the Customs officials had gone to an unnamed car dealer’s showroom around  the Isa Kaita road area and impounded about six luxury vehicles which they claimed had no imp...

LEADER of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Kanu Fulfils Bail Condition

LEADER of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, on Friday, fulfilled the bail conditions granted by the Federal High Court, Abuja. The bail condition was perfected through the presence of the Chairman, South East Senate caucus and former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, a Jewish High Chief Priest, Immanuu-El Shalom and a Chartered Accountant residing in Abuja, Tochukwu Uchendu.

IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu granted bail as he is joined by Gov Fayose at the court

The governor is now seated at the Federal High Court 4, Abuja. The court had on April 6 fixed today to deliver ruling in the application for variation of the order of court on protection of witnesses in the case against Kanu. Kanu, through his defence counsels led by Ifeanyi Ejiofor, asked the court to set aside the order made on December 13, 2016 for the protection of witnesses. Kanu’s lawyers argued that having been acquitted of the charges of terrorism and importation of weapons, the defendants cannot be tried with the identities of witnesses based on section 36(6) of the 1999 Constitution. However, counsel to the Federal Government, Suleiman Labaran in a counter affidavit urged the court to dismiss the application as a ploy to delay the trial. Recall that Kanu was charged alongside Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi on charges of treasonable felony and criminal defamation. The Federal High Court had on March 2nd, struck-out six out of the...

Where has our humanity gone? While the finale of big brother naija doused the social media, a life was lost and little children and the girl child were rendered home less. Tonight we sleep with whatever form of shelter we have the lives of the people otodogbame hangs on the little canoe on the water. Is island development taking away our Humanity? Why has the Lagos Government chosen forceful eviction of the people of otodogbame in a matter that is still in court? What is the alternative for the people of otodogbame? Based on logistics if they had an alternative they wouldn't be there in the first place. No human being would deliberately choose to live rickety shanties on water. It is for me a sign that government has not been inclusive if there are still people surviving in such deplorable state. Please take some time out and reach out to the people of otodogbame. And we call on the Lagos State government to please have a human face to this matter as it goes beyond...
