A High Court of the Federal Capital in Apo, Abuja,strikes out N1.97bn fraud charges against Orubebe

A High Court of the Federal Capital in Apo, Abuja, on Tuesday,  struck out six charges involving alleged N1.97bn fraud preferred against a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Godsday Orubebe. Justice Olukayode Adeniyi struck out the case and discharged Orubebe and other defendants after the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission, the agency which filed the case withdrew it on Tuesday. Orubebe was charged along with others including an Assistant Director at the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr. Oludare Davis Alaba. Other defendants were the Director of Contracts, Gitto Costruzioni Generali Nig. Ltd., Mr. Ephraim Towede Zari. Unemployed Nigerians to be registered online from Wednesday by the Federal government.

The Federal Government is to register unemployed Nigerians online as from Wednesday April 5. The Deputy Director, Information and Public Relations of  the National Directorate of Employment, Edmund Onwuliri, announced this in a statement given to News Agency of Nigeria, in Abuja on Monday. Onwuliri said the registration was aimed at collecting up to date data of the unemployed Nigerians. He said the registration was in compliance with NDE’s mandate “to obtain and maintain a data bank on unemployment and vacancies in the country.” The deputy director said the exercise would enable the directorate to serve as a clearing house linking job seekers with existing vacancies in government agencies and the private sector. “The online portal which goes live on Wednesday April 5, 2017, is designed to capture the relevant details of any unemployed person. Nigerian Engineer Invents Device That Can Supply 24 Hours Uninterrupted Electric Power Supply.

A Nigerian engineer, Obayagbona Emmanuel Imafidon, has revealed that he has invented a power-generating device that can solve the problem power outage in the country. In an interview with Guardian, the graduate of Electrical Engineering from the Institute of Management and Technology in Enugu said he could generate power from thunder lightning and that he has been working on it since 2006. He said: “I have been researching on generating constant power from thunder lightning. What Parents should look out for about Meningitis– Medical Experts

Some medical experts have advised Nigerians to seek early attention when ill especially if they are suspicious of meningitis because the disease is curable if presented early. The meningitis outbreak across several states has caused the death of over 282 people in the past two months. Adefunke Babatola, a paediatrician, has advised  that parents should take their children early to hospitals for diagnosis because the treatment is more successful if detected early.
