Ever thought that the Flogging Competition is exclusive to the fulani's think again. It is also practised in Ipetu-Ijesha, Osun State

An archaic game of beating with long canes was recently played at a remote area in Osun state during which several degrees of injuries were inflicted on the participants that were cheered by supporters. A flogging competition took place at Ipetu-Ijesha among two notable streets namely; Odoise and Ifofin. Each street has representatives (competitors), so the representatives came out and started flogging themselves in turns. The more a participant could withstand a particular session, the higher the points earned by such participant. Whichever street  that won will be given a price  from the king according to a social media user who attended the event. Peter Okoye Opens Up On Split From His Brothers

THE GENESIS OF THE ISSUE The issue was the fact that I was in Psquare and it felt like I was in fear. If I don’t do this, Psquare will break-up, if I don’t do that, Psquare will scatter.’Four years ago, I told Jude that he needs to step down as our manager, because I didn’t want to disrespect him as a brother, but this is business, we have to structure it. And Jude said to me that there’s a way I’ll talk to him, and he’ll slap me. So I kept quiet’. ‘So, a few hours after, Paul came to me and said if I want Jude to step down it’s not a problem, but it’ll mean that he (Paul) will go solo. The the first time word got out about Psquare breaking up, a lot of people called us, senators, governors, and people like that. In fact three of us were once in a private jet to go and see someone who wanted to resolve our issues and we didn’t speak to each other all through the flight. At the end of the day, I swallowed my pride for peace to reign and allowed Jude to remain as our manager’. O...

WHAT SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT CBN ILLEGAL HIRE

S aharaReporters has obtained a list of at least 91 people tied to influential or highly placed Nigerians who were recently offered juicy appointments by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in a hiring process that was highly secretive. Indeed the Political cabal that once held the nation by the jugular had only let go to latch onto another spot that is no less deadly than when its grip was strangulating the nation’s economy. Our worries should be magnified at this point because the actions of the cabal are now deeply insidious as it has again activated its sleeper cells within our Nations apex financial institution.  Not only is the old status quo resisting change, it is also fighting efforts at reforms and the anti-corruption campaign spreading it's Web to the very crusaders of change. Nigerians must also not continue in that unacceptable tradition of seeing this problem as that of the less privileged and the poor, where only the few influential and highly connected get in to ch...
