Anxiety in House of Reps as Dogara group “moves against” Gbajabiamila

Anxiety has engulfed the House of Representatives, following an All Progressives Congress caucus meeting summoned by the Chief Whip, Alhassan Dogwa. The meeting is slated for 10 this morning(Tuesday), and coming after the Loyalist Group, which has APC lawmakers loyal to the Majority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, labelled the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara an “agent provocateur of destabilization.” The composition of the headships of the 96 House committees which some APC members said favoured the opposition PDP has apparently reignited crisis in the House. There are indications that the meeting is fixed to move against Mr. Gbajabiamila. Mr. Dogwa is a loyalist of the Speaker. Three legislators also confirmed the 10am meeting. Asked if the meeting was to move against Mr. Gbajabiamila, a lawmaker (APC-Katsina) who would not not want to be named said, “actually there is something like that going around like rumour but I have not confirmed”. CCT Chairman Danladi Umar’s Dirty Laundry Aired in Public

Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Mr. Danladi Umar, had been recommended for probe and removal over allegations of corruption. Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister for Justice, Mohammed Adoke, SAN while in office had recommended him to the EFCC for prosecution over alleged collection of bribe. The justice minister’s recommendation was based on the report of the EFCC into allegation by a retired Comptroller of Customs, Mr Rasheed Taiwo, that Umar demanded N10 million bribe from him to help him quash the case against him. Meet Ibrahim Magu, The New EFCC Chairman

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday fired the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Lamorde.He approved the appointment of Ibrahim Mustafa Magu as the Acting Chairman. Magu served as head of the EFCC’s Economic Governance Unit (EGU) during the tenure of Nuhu Ribadu. Magu gained public attention when he led many high profile investigations against former governors including James Ibori of Delta State and Bukola Saraki of Kwara State. He is a trained financial crimes investigator with background in forensic accounting, and training at the FBI institute and the London Metropolitan Police institute. EFCC Chairman Ibrahim Lamorde Removed

Irahim Magu, a top level official of the Economic and Governance Unit of the EFCC, has been elevated to the position of chairman of the commission. This follows the removal today by the government of Ibrahim Lamorde, who had held that position since 2011. Magu is remembered as a no-nonsense investigator of the commission at its inception. Female Staff of Federal government agency in Oyo protest topless, demand removal of their Executive director

Female staff members of the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, threw caution to the winds this morning and staged a semi-nude protest against the Executive Director of the agency, Professor Malachy O. Akoroda over what they termed his maladministration of the agency. A Fulani socio-cultural association, Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore yesterday sent a final warning to former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-kayode over insult on the Fulani race. National president of the association, Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo gave the warning after consultation with the South-West organisations’ leaders in Abuja.
