Five Deputy Comptroller-Generals Of Nigeria Customs Resign

All five Deputy Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service have resigned their resignation today, October 29.  The senior officers who jointly wrote a one-page letter said they were all unanimously and voluntarily resigning from the service of the Nigeria Customs Service having risen to their current position. According to Skytrend News, the officers were billed to proceed on annual leave but they opted to unanimously resign. There are a total of six Deputy Comptroller-Generals in the Nigeria Customs,  but a source who chose to be anonymous disclosed that the sixth one had earlier retired. The source further revealed that before now, the five Deputy Comptroller-Generals were briefly posted to Zonal Offices to work with the Assistant Comptroller-Generals. After they came back from the assignment, they were given letters to proceed on a schedule of annual leave. See a copy of their letter below:

APC says No more division in the party

The All Progressives Congress has said the confirmation of all the ministerial nominees by the Senate, despite some misgivings by the opposition party, has shown there was no longer any division within the APC family. In a release on Thursday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party stated that the cohesion displayed by the APC senators indicated that the lawmakers were ready to work with the executive. The party said, ”The cohesion and unity exhibited by the APC Senators on Thursday have shown that our legislators are ready to work with the executive and the party to ensure that the agenda of the party is implemented for the benefit of all Nigerians.” It added that the party commended all its members and leaders in the Senate including the leadership of the APC for the show of unity. Plane Catches Fire at Fort Lauderdale International Airport

Seven people were injured and three were taken to local hospitals after a Dynamic Airways plane caught fire at Fort Lauderdale International Airport on Thursday. FAA officials said that the Boeing 767 caught fire while taxiing for departure. A pilot in an aircraft traveling behind it reported that fuel was leaking from the plane before the fire started. Smoke was billowing from the plane before firefighters doused it with foam. Passengers evacuated the plane by sliding onto the runway, officials said. It is unknown how many passengers were on board or how serious the injuries may be. However, Dynamic has said on its website that its Boeing 767 aircrafts can accommodate up to 250 people.

Appeal court decides Saraki’s CCT trial on Friday

The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal will on Friday (tomorrow) decide on whether or not to quash the charges of false asset declaration preferred against Senate President Bukola Saraki before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
