Senate begins sitting without ministerial list

The senate this morning began its sitting without senate president Bukola Saraki reading the much awaited ministerial list. The tradition in the senate has always been that any communication from the President is read before the commencement of proper legislative business but that did not happen as Senator Bukola went straight into legislative matters. The minority leader of the senate Godswill Apakbio observed the abnormal and immediately raised a point of order. “The President had promised to announce his ministerial nominees today and the Senate President has finished reading the days announcements without it, why?,” Akpabio said. The senate president however did not reply him. Senate leader, Bala Ibn Na'Allah said the legislative day had not elapsed and so more everyone should be patient. The house is still in session

CCB member faults trial Meanwhile, there was a new dimension to the case against Saraki, as a member of the CCB said that the entire trial was needless and in contradiction with the process stipulated in the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act. According to the member who spoke on condition of anonymity said if the Bureau had followed the provision of Section 3(d) of its own law, it will not rush to trial, but invite Saraki to come and defend whatever inconsistency or infraction that may have been discovered in his asset declarations, adding that the normal procedure according to Section 3(d) of the Act was that the Bureau should set up a c...

Apparently referring to the outcome of the 2015 presidential election where Ohanaeze’s choice, former President Goodluck Jonathan was defeated, he said “we had a meeting, a select group met in-house with Ohanaeze executive to discuss the Igbo day celebration. “It will be held low-key; branches are free to celebrate the Igbo day as they want, but at the national level, we have decided on a review. The situation of things in the country calls for tact and unity among Ndigbo. This is also why the theme of this year’s celebration is ‘Ako na Uche; Njiko Aka’ (tact and unity).” Igariwey...
